Profile
Masaya Morita, born in 1964, is currently a professor at the Faculty of Sociology at Kansai University. He graduated from Kobe University in 1987 and got his Master’s degree in Business Administration in 1989 and his Ph.D degree in 1996 also from Kobe University.
He joined Kansai University in 1992 and was a visiting researcher at the Japan Centre at Manchester University from April 1996 to March 1997.
His teaching on Human Resource Management, both at the undergraduate and graduate school level, is based on his in-depth research. He utilizes the interactive method in order for students to be participative and to construct their own perspectives about work related matters.
His research interest is in the autonomous working way which covers humanization of work, teamworking and work-life balance.

For Graduate Research Student or Graduate Student applicants
Applicants for Graduate Research Student ( hereafter GRS, Kenkyu-sei in Japanese), are required either to be a Bachelor of business administration ( especially in human resource management ) or related field of social science, or to have more than one year of work experience in any industry. By meeting at the university, Professor Morita’s name stamp is put on the application form. This does NOT imply the acceptance as the GRS, but only the approval to take an entrance examination.
To become a graduate student, you are required to pass an entrance examination. Professor Morita’s approval name stamp is not required for applying for it. However, it is strongly recommended that a preliminary meeting with Professor Morita should be held before turning in the application form.
The overview of the two-year tutorial for getting a degree of Master of Sociology is as follows:
This class is given in the form of a seminar with students under
Professor Morita’s tutorial. This class is primarily conducted in
Japanese.
1st semester (Spring, 1st year)
Tutorial of the basic skills and required reading for completing a master’s thesis. A tentative title for the thesis is required to be submitted to Professor Morita around the middle of July.
2nd semester (Autumn, 1st year)
Tutoring for completing a master’s thesis. Giving a presentation of your research once a month and turning in a report of the presentation are required.
3rd semester (Spring, 2nd year)
Tutoring for completing a master’s thesis. Giving a presentation of your research once a month and turning in a report of the presentation are required. Around the end of September, your title for the thesis should be submitted officially.
4th semester (Autumn, 2nd year)
Tutoring for completing a master’s thesis. Giving a presentation of your research once a month and turning in a report of the presentation are required. The master’s thesis should be submitted around the middle of January. An oral assessment is given in mid-February.
