INTRODUCTION

Most of metallic materials are utilized in their specific environments without exception, and then they react with the environment.  The reaction, termed as “corrosion”, is big issue in most of manufacture industries because metallic machines and device degrade to failure and be fractured by corrosion.  Therefore, there are quite large social demands to prevent corrosion and to train the persons who have knowledge about corrosion.

Our laboratory, therefore, offers the education to you and make the investigation with you about science of corrosion and engineering of corrosion-prevention on the basis of electrochemistry.  The followings are main research points of our laboratory:

  • the development of new materials and films with high corrosion-resistance,
  • the mitigation of environmental-assisted cracking various materials,
  • the mechanism of the corrosion process for any systems, using sophisticated electrochemical and metallurgical techniques.

TOPICS

  • Corrosion Resistance of Titanium-Magnesium Alloy in Weak Acid Solution Containing Fluoride Ions
  • Correlation between amount of bound water and stability of passive film on Ti during passivation time in sulfuric acid solution
  • Effect of additional element on hydrogen absorption for iron in acidic and neutral sulfate solutions
  • Diffusion behavior of D2O in the corrosion product films on steels
  • Atmospheric corrosion of stainless steel and aluminum at the point of thickness of solution layer
