muPS (muometric positioning system) is a technology for high-precision positioning using relativistic particles. This new technique uses the fact that relativistic muons propagate at virtually the speed of light in vacuum, even in water, to realize positioning in underwater\/underground\/indoor environments where GPS is unavailable. Potential applications include detecting movements in a submarine volcanoes and seafloor that can cause earthquakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
