Taking over the previous results, the Center for the Global Study of Cultural Heritage and Culture (CHC) was established anew in 2013 (fiscal year). This project is supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s Strategic Project to Support the Formation of Research Bases at Private Universities (2013 – 17).

2012, ICP had an agreement of academic exchange with Faculty of Archaeology at Cairo University in Egypt. We will advance further research of cultural properties in Egypt.
This allows mutual support for training students and young scholars, exchange or visiting researchers and co-sponsoring international seminars. It also will be meaningful for our research activities.

From 2012, Masaaki Sawada (Conservation and Restoration Group) is offering classes on Cultural Property Restoration at Kansai University.
Students who take this class learn basic scientific knowledge about Cultural Property Restoration and promote a greater understanding on Conservation and Restoration techniques of mural painting.

Hiroshi Suita (Culture and Town Group) is offering classes on Middle Egyptian at Kansai University. Based on framework agreement of the consortium of universities in Osaka, it is possible for non-Kansai University students to learn Middle Egyptian which is a basic study for Ancient Egyptian.

On March 27, 2012, Ahmed Shoeib (Conservation and Restoration Group), Adel Akarish (Conservation and Restoration Group) and Eva Roznerska (Conservation and Restoration Group) conducted reports on restoration of cultural property in Egypt and Poland.
They also exchanged of opinions with Japanese members of Geotechnical Engineering Group, Conservation and Restoration Group, Culture and Town Group and Technology Development Group.

A research of Tadateru Nishiura (Conservation and Restoration Group) in Machu Picchu was introduced in the Asahi Shimbun newspaper (Morning edition). This research was conducted in collaboration with Haruhiro Fujita (Toyo University).

Performance of Egyptian dance was held under joint sponsorship of Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt (Culture, Education and Science Bureau) at Kansai University on July 21 (Thursday), 2011. Egyptian National Folk Dance Troupe “El-Horrya” performed the folk dance and Kansai University’s dance circle “Belly Divas” presented the belly dance.

The 33th Annual Meeting of the Japan Society for the Conservation of Cultural Property was held at Nara Prefecture New Public Hall from June 4 (Saturday) to 5 (Sunday), 2011. Tadateru Nishiura (Conservation and Restoration Group), member of ICP, gave a presentation.

A new list of items stolen from the Egyptian Museum has been released by Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities. Fifty-four items have been lost, which is larger than the previously reported total of 18 items. This information has been released in order to help recover the stolen items.
